Thank you George for your astute insight...

12 degrees this morning here in northern Virginia. It is so cold that I actually saw a liberal socialist with his hands in his own pockets.

Gawd's gonna GIT ME fer that snark.

Gonna be in the fargin 30's tomorrow. That doan impress you Youpers and Inuits, but you gotta understand: I went out to get the paper ten minnits ago. Temp is 71*.

71* actually feels a tad cool... nearly a tad chilly. Now drop it forty fargin degrees. It's the delta that'll kill ya.

Take 40* off your temp up thar in Minnysoota, and you have liquid nitrogen.

We have had temps below zero several days or I should say lows, highs in teens. Sitting at -4 F here when I got up.

I never understood how people could live where the air can freeze your fucking eyeballs. I'm reading about people in Minnesota having to swap out their fuel tanks because the diesel turned to jello.

lol It helps keep the bugs down.

Yeah,I remember thawing jello fuel out of the line in -15 weather many times in my old house. I would buy 10 gallons of diesel at a time and pour in the tank. We were too poor back then to afford the higher grade oil, let alone a whole tank. Most of the time we huddled next to a near worthless Franklin fireplace stove to keep warm and burned anything that didnt move.

Its been a pretty average winter here so far this year. 20 inches of snow with about 6 on the ground now. Only 4 nights in the single digits so far. Nothing below zero yet. Last year we had 20 nights below zero and too many single digits to count. I dont think we even broke freezing for two months. And we had 67 inches of snow before winter finally ended.

It looks like its your turn this year. Lots of perky nipple weather in the forecast for the eastern half of the US for the next 10 days.

You just described the most miserable morning of all the miserable mornings going deer hunting.

I was 40 feet up a tree with a pocket raincoat (which was blowing all over the place). Freezing rain pouring down. Nothing stirring in the forest, because all the forest creatures were smart enough to seek shelter...
