and the host, Bob Brinker (do a Google), actually said this. They were talking about TIPS and T-Bills and the like and one of the callers asked about their risk or safety.

Bob then says something like...."Those are backed with the full faith and credit of the United States government so there's ABSOLUTELY NO RISK in holding any of those financial instruments....none." And this is a guy who goes into an absolute PHOBIA should the word GOLD be mentioned on his radio show. I damn near ran off the road and I could barely believe my ears at the absolute rubbish I was hearing! Anyone else happen to hear this this past Saturday??

I can't believe what passes for financial advice on the public airwaves nowadays. About the only thing I can think of right now is the old saying...a fool and his money are soon parted. And that's what'll happen if you listen to this guy....

I agree. If investors can't think for themselves, they deserve to lose their money. It's sad, but that's the way it works.

I think the biggest problem is that many have a hard time comprehending a collapse of the dollar. I don't blame them for thinking the most prosperous nation in the world can't fall, but we have to look at things objectively and not from an emotional point of view. When you do that, you quickly realize that T-bonds are not quite the safe haven they once were. In fact, it's downright scary what could happen.
